236AB - 237AB (2004)

 
236A - The tape begins at 04:57 on August 5, 2004.  Northern residents are calling near Parson Island (PI), BC.  A total of 33 calls were identified; I15 (79%), N23 (6%), and N25 (15%).

236B - The tape begins at 09:50 and ends at 10:42, August 5, 2004.  No calls were identified, vessel and ambient noise was too high.

237A - The tape begins at 10:42 and ends at 11:29 on August 5, 2004.  The northern residents are calling near Cracroft Point (CP), BC.  A total of 77 calls were identified; N1 (1%), N4 (70%), N5 (5%), and N9 (24%).  Whales identified included the A12s, A36s, and I15s.

237B - The tape begins at 11:29 and ends at 12:17 on August 5, 2004.  The northern residents are calling near CP,  a total of 55 calls were identified; N1 (5%), N2 (5%), N4 (58%), N5 (11%), N7 (5%), and N9 (16%).  Whales identified includes the A12s, A36s, and I15s.

234AB - 235AB (2004)

234A - (August 4, 2004) The tape starts at 18:19 and ends at 19:05. The recording at Cracroft Point was very loud with boat and ambient rain noise. There were a total of 17 northern resident killer whale discrete calls identified N9 (6%) and N23 (94%, I15s).  Killer whale echolocation clicks and whistles were heard on the tape. 

234B - (August 4, 2004) The tape starts at 19:06 and ends at 19:52.  There was high ambient background noise at Cracroft Point.  A total of 34 calls were identified N4 (41%), N5 (3%), N9 (29%, A36s), N23 (9%, I15s), and N25 (18%, I15s). Pacific white-sided dolphins (Lagenorhynchus obliquidens) were heard towards the end.

235A - (August 4, 2004) The tape starts at 19:54 and ends at 20:36.  Faint calls were heard at Cracroft Point.  The recording was too loud for call identification.

235B - (August 5, 2004) The tape starts at 04:11 and ends at 04:44.  There were lots of clear dolphin calls at the beginning of the recording.  The I15s were later heard near Parson Island calling at 04:23.  There were a total of 15 calls ID; I15 call (73%, like a variation of the N23 discrete call) and N25 (27%, I15s).

233B (2004) - CP Calls

The Orcalab recording from 2004 starts at 17:31 with loud boat noise and the A36 matriline calling and echolocating  at Cracroft Point, British Columbia. A total of ten calls were identified N4 (40%), N5 (40%), and N9 (20%).

Bere Point Recordings

The first recording, of the northern resident killer whale A12 matriline beach rubbing at Bere Point (by Troy Bright), had lots of rubbing with few N12 calls (n = 3, 3:38 min). The second, of the B7 matriline had a total for 44 discrete calls; N1 (47%), N7 (10%), N8 (7%), N16 (18%), and N18 (18%) (5:22 min).
The third tape, of the A11s, I11s, G3s and other northern residents had a total of 34 identified calls; N1 (23%), N4 (13%), N23 (42%), and several pings (22%).  The H6 matriline was identified with N1iv calls and the A11s with N4 calls (3:51 min).  The fourth recording, of the A36s, A30s, G17s had five N23 calls (100%), these were more like N23ii by the G17 matriline (1:58 min).

233A (2004) - CP Calls

Tape 233A begins at 16:44 on August 4, 2004. Whales are heard in the distance at Cracroft Point. The A36s and A12s are identified, tapes ends at 17:30. Calls identified; N2 (9%), N4 (50%), N9 (25%), N12 (8%), A12sp (8%), n = 12.

232B (2004) - CP Calls

I pod
Tape 232B starts at 15:57 on August 4th 2004. The northern residents are heard in the distance through the boat noise calling, echolocating, and whistling off Cracroft Point, West Cracroft Island BC. A total of 16 calls were identified; N1 (28%), N4 (30%), N5 (30%), and N10 (12%).

232A (2004) - CP Calls

The Orcalab recording 232A starts at 15:10 on Wednesday August 4th, 2004. The I15 and and A1 groups are heard calling and echolocating at Cracroft Point with heavy boat noise persistent thought out the tape. A total of 14 calls were identified; N4 (22%), N9 (7%), N23 (14%), trills (35%), and squawks (22%).

Note - there is an error in the Orcalab lab recording notes with comments for recording 232B twice, the first one starting at 15:10 is actually notes for tape 232A and remarks starting at 15:57 are for 232B.

231B (2004) - RB & CP Calls

The tape starts at 14:22 on August 4, 2004, with the I15s at the rubbing beach making trill calls (5%). Boat noise increases at 14:33, the I15s are heard at 14:57 at Cracroft Point echolocating, emitting N25 (33%) and squawk (10%) calls. Very loud boat noise at 15:00, I15 - I15s (10%) and N23 - I15s (42%) calls. Tape ends at 15:06 (n = 19 calls).

231A (2004) - RB Calls

The recording 231A starts at 13:38 with the I15s rubbing at the main beach. Lots of rubbing is heard throughout the quiet recording. A total of 32 calls were identified; N1(38%), N23(25%), N24(16%), N25(6%), trills(16%), and whistles. Tapes ends at 14:23.

230B (2004) - RB/CP Calls

Recording 230B starts at 7:42am on August 4, 2004. The beginning of the tape is quiet with lots of rubbing and no calls. The tape is stopped at 8:08am as the I15s head east. Its restarted at 13:13 on August 4, boat noise is loud with the I15s now at Cracroft Point with 6 calls identified: N24 (33%), N25 (67%), tape ends at 13:34.

230A (2004) - CP/RB Calls

The tape starts at 6:49am on August 4, 2004. The I15s are at Cracroft Point (CP) then are recorded at the Main Rubbing Beach (RB) later in the tape at 7:13am. A total of 41 calls were identified; N1(3%), N5(35), N23(78%), N25(9%), and trill calls (7%).
